The Manx in Brittany

One of the leaflets that will be distribtued during this year's Lorient festival

The Manx Heritage Foundation has organised a major delegation to attend this year’s Celtic festival in Lorient. Attended by over 600,000 enthusiasts every year, the Lorient festival is seen as a major platform for presenting a nation’s culture, and the other seven Celtic countries have a major presence there.

This year the Isle of Man has leased a pavilion to display Manx culture including musicians and dancers, a special issue of Celtic stamps produced by Isle of Man Post, and other Manx produce.

10,000 leaflets have been produced for distribution giving links to a French section of the Foundation’s website. 2,000 music CD samplers will also be given away showcasing Manx groups and giving links to their various websites.

It’s hoped that the Manx contingent will raise awareness of the Isle of Man and its unique culture as well as tempting more people to visit the Island to experience it for themselves.

The Foundation’s two political members, Quintin Gill MHK and the Hon Anne Craine, MHK, will also visit the festival during its first week.
