Coonceil ny Gaelgey
Coonceil ny Gaelgey (or the Gaelic Council) was set up in December 1985 as a sub-committee of the Manx Heritage Foundation. Its duties include the provision of authoritative Manx versions of the titles of government departments, street names and the creation of new words and phrases. The Council is active in supporting private, public and voluntary organisations who would like to use the language in ways that are appropriate for them. Many organisations now make use of the language not only to add value to their services but also to help foster our unique language and culture. The Council can be contacted via the Manx language officer by telephone: 01624 838527 or
