The revival of interest in playing Manx music has produced a plethora of instrumental and vocal groups and soloists who are interpreting the tradition for the present day. The Heritage Foundation has a particular interest in producing material that will be invaluable in the future: CDs, still photographs and videos.
In 2001, musicians were invited to perform for the video camera. The result was a videotape of the traditional music scene today, produced by Charles Guard, with brief introductions by the musicians themselves, talking about their favourite pieces. A professional digital format with stereo sound track was used and the extensive master tapes have been deposited in the Manx National Heritage Library.
The Foundation continues to support musicians by helping with their education or purchasing instruments, and by funding recordings and workshops. It has commissioned new arrangements of Manx music, and an extensive data base of music titles is available on this website.
